The best time to travel in Indonesia depends on what you’re looking for. Do you want to avoid the rain, mainly aiming for sunfilled days or would you rather visit the country when there are not as many tourists? When talking about the weather in Indonesia, it is classified into two seasons: the dry season and the rainy season.
The dry season in Indonesia stretches from April to October and for many people this is considered the best time to travel the country. Dry season usually brings warm days with a lot of sun and less humidity. Due to the good weather it is also during this period of time Indonesia experiences most of it’s tourism, so expect larger crowds. This especially in June – August, Indonesia’s peak season.
The rainy season in Indonesia stretches from November to March, with the wettest months being December and January. Technically the rains are considered monsoons during the entire rainy season, but it is usually only in December and January where you’ll experience heavy downfall throughout the days. For the rest of the rainy season the rain is more brief.
During the rainy season you won’t experience as large crowds when you travel in Indonesia, and this is therefore a perfect time if you are traveling on a budget due to lower prices in both flight fares and accommodations.
